Signature

Signature is a registered charity tasked with raising standards of communication between deaf and hearing people. They are recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and offer a wide range of nationally accredited qualifications.

Developed out of a communication project funded by the department of Health, Signature was formerly established as the Council for Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) in 1982 by a partnership of organisations representing deaf and deaf-blind people. They have developed qualifications, established professional registers for people working as communicators with deaf and deaf-blind people, and achieved some major public policy shifts leading to better service access for deaf and deaf-blind people.
